My kids love to dress up for Halloween and always enjoy going to the costume store to shop. There’s only one problem… Have you seen the prices of those costumes? Not to mention all the accessories that goes along with the ensemble to complete the “look”. Being a mother of three, who has time or cash for that! Last year, it was approximately $30.00 plus per kid. I don’t have a hundred dollars to spend on costumes they will only wear once or twice. So I started to explore making their costume this year, however there’s one problem with that… I’m NOT crafty what so ever! See below for a few creative, easy and inexpensive kids costume ideas that are simple:
STATIC CLING! Can’t get easier than this. Take random cloths, dryer sheets and safety pins and voila! View this and other ideas at moneycrashers.com.
IT’S RAINING CATS & DOGS! You’ll need a child’s clear umbrella, black felt, black poster board and a few other items. See parenting.com for full details.
MEDUSA HEADBAND! What a cool and easy idea! All you need is a cheap head band and rubber snakes from your local dollar store and spray paint gold. For more information.
GUMBALL MACHINE! For very little cost a large t-shirt, plastic bowl and some plastic balls from the dollar store you can make a cute gumball machine. See here for instructions.
BABY BAT! This might be a little more work for me, however I know I could do this and it’s super cute. Take a pair of grey thermals, hat, umbrella, felt ears & fangs (use th with the downloadable template) and you’ll have a baby bat. See here for instructions: allyou.com.
CANDY RAPPER! This is one of my FAVS and I will see if I can talk one of my sons into wearing this costume this year! Check out DIY’s easy instructions.
I plan on trying the candy rapper costume with my son and I hope I was able to give you an idea or two. Remember, you don’t have to pay a lot of money at the store this Halloween. Enjoy and have fun making costumes together with the kiddos.
It make cents to save dollars!
