Didn’t get to show off your swimsuit body this summer? Then it is time to start your new weight loss program or kick up your current weight loss program. The first thing you must commit to is that this is not a weight loss program as much as it is your new healthy life style. It is your commitment to living a long healthy life.
Remember that saying you can’t teach an old dog new tricks? Well that not entirely true. You can learn new habits and eat healthier new foods. The truth is you probably don’t WANT to. If you keep eating the wrong foods, or too much fat or sugar, or you simply do not eat enough calories, then you are setting yourself up for failure. You will continue to have the same body you have today. I remember when Steve Martin once said, “I’ll do anything to look like that, except diet and exercise.” If you want to look different six months from now or on your next birthday then you need to make changes now, mainly diet and exercise. Point blank, end of discussion; there is no magic pill, formula or surgery.
The first thing you must change is your attitude. You can’t think of everything you can’t eat but rather think of the years of your life you will be gaining. Think about wearing a bikini or going topless (men only please). How great would it feel to have a flatter stomach or instead of that beer belly and muffin top? Your mind has to vividly see you living life at your optimal health level. What do you look like, what clothes do you wear, who do you hang out with, what do you eat? The more specific you are the better. Frequently visualize (daydream) about you idea self and see yourself performing your daily activities with your new body at your idea weight. Fake it ’til you make it. The more you visualize the easier it become to pass on unhealthy foods and sit on the couch and zone out for hours. Fitting into your high school jeans or Letterman jacket feel better than that brownie or those chips will ever taste.
Before you come up with a meal plan and exercise program you must master your mind. If your mind is not in the game you will just be wasting your time.
Happy Healthy Living.
